I am looking at the cause and effect of Rangiatea Church getting burnt down and how its apart of our history.
I have learnt that is was built in 1851, burnt down in 1995 by Francis Shaw and rebuilt in 2003. The estimated cost of the fire was $3 million and Francis Shaw who was 42 was jailed for 4 years and charged for the fire. The church was known as a national treasure and it had very fine Tukutuku panels.
